On October 14th, 2022 La Guagua 47 brought together over 300 people at Taller Puertorriqueño for the first-ever event honoring Latino artists who dedicate themselves to creating art with and for communities.
Manos En La Obra: A Celebration of Latino Artists, honored seven important cultural leaders that live or work along the 47 bus route, Philadelphia’s Latino Cultural Corridor. Visit Philadelphia was the presenting partner.

Cesar Viveros received a special “The Driver/El Chofer” Award for his achievement in leading the transformation of an everyday bus into a cultural portal and moving work of art for the Guagua 47 film.
And, the extraordinary Jesse Bermudez was honored posthumously with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his decades of cultural advocacy, creation of opportunities for Latino musicians, and inspiration. Jesse’s wife Daisy and his children accepted the award.
